A pensioner, who shot dead a burglar inside his secluded home, has avoided prosecution for killing the man, after it was deemed he acted in self defence and did “nothing more than was necessary”.

This is an interesting case because the man who shot the burglar held a firearm but had no certificate for it. Nevertheless, when he used it in self defence, he was punished only for not having a certificate for the firearm.
